Thongchai McIntyre   -   Tears of Happiness

10 years ago, the day that my mother went to sleep, my heart felt like the water beginning to foam without having the pressure of the water. I might have been able to keep walking, to keep standing, to keep talking, but inside there was no weight of the heart at all. Even though I would light incense and promise with my mom that I would eventually be able to go back to being lively and fun, but deep down inside, I didn’t know if I would be able to find a way to become strong and to have life again.

I remember that after the funeral was over, I brought my mom home so that we could have the Buddhist ceremonies every Saturday.  During that time I was living day to day, as if I was floating. The liveliness had no evidence of returning. Until the day when Lady Oranuut gave notice that His Majesty and Her Royal Highness have invited me to come and sing as part of the celebration of His Majesty’s 50 years on the throne. In that moment, the excitement returned. Just watching the news, I was excited for those who were able to be in his presence, but I was going to be able to sing in front of him. It’s more exciting than I can explain.

I prepared 9 songs in total from the album “100 Love Songs.” I prepared by bringing backing tracks and sang the songs softly next to my mother’s shrine.  I told her that I was going to sing in front of the King and Queen. I would sing and talk to my mom, about this song and that song and that I would sing it like this.
When it got to the day where I would be in the presence of the King and Queen, I traveled to the palace with a picture of my mother in my left pocket.  I wanted my mom to be next to my heart. The excitement continued to build when Lady Oranuut brought us into this one room.  In that room, all royal family was there. I knelt over and bowed at His Majesty’s feet and he said “Bird you have a lot of work, but today I ask that you come here to help.” When I heard that, I became very tense, and His Majesty saw this and asked “Are you excited?”

Traveling around Thailand gives a sense of warmth, P'Bird Thongchai McIntyre reveals that leaves an everlasting impression is that no matter which part of Thailand you travel to, it is beautiful. There are smiles that welcome you and always a lot of different types of delicious foods

The everlasting superstar in the hearts of Thais like Bird Thongchai McIntyre, no matter what he moes to do, it is always of interests to people all the time. Everytime that he goes somewhere, you will always see a crowd of people standing closely around him. At this time TAT has asked him to become the presenter for traveling within Thailand to help making traveling within Thailand more exciting, to help stimulate the economy. In an effort to help invite Thais to travel within Thailand in order to help stimulate their own economy. And in the end, as it turns out there are many who are travel to Ubon Ratchathani, following in his footsteps already. This time they followed to travel at "Ma Hin Kao" in Chaiyapoom, which has been hailed as "Stonehenge" of Thailand, the setting for the lastest commercial for Thailand's everlasting superstar.

When you went to visit Sam Pun Bok in Ubon Ratchathani, there were a lot of people who followed you to go visit there as well. This time you went to Ma Hin Kao, do you think a lot of people will also follow there?

I think there will be because when we went that time we could see the villagers getting ready. There were already people who go visit there. They will go and set up tents around 3 or 4 in the morning, they will go around then. Maybe some will come later in the afternoon, they will bring their own food, they'll eat and sing, its an area that is very wide. At Ma Hin Kao there are 2 steps, the first step is like a village of rocks, its the first village, then there is the 2nd village where we went to film. The first village are really large rocks, it looks sacred and we can't go and climb them. They brought me up to the top and I got to see all the tents, it was around 3 or 4 am. The atmosphere is beautiful, it is somewhere that is one of the romantic places for looking at stars at night. Even when the stars are not out yet, it's still beautiful. It's a bit chilly, the wind is cold because we are at a high point. And around there when you look out it looks green, different greens coming down in tiers. It's very beautiful, it doesn't matter if its out of the country, it can't beat here.
